🇺🇸 This 4th of July, let’s remember: Patriotism doesn’t belong to one party or the other — it belongs to all of us. The most American thing you can do is challenge injustice, question authority, and speak up when something isn’t right. Protest is not unpatriotic — it’s a vital part of democracy. That is America. I know many of us are feeling defeated right now. But it’s not over. 🔥 Keep fighting the good fight. 📣 Speak out. 🗳 Register to vote. 🤝 Organize your community. 🏛 Run for office. Together, we can be the change we seek. Because loving your country means showing up — even when it’s hard. #FourthOfJuly #ThisIsAmerica #KeepFighting #ProtectDemocracy #bethechangeButton

Working in the gallery today with West Valley Arts Council, surrounded by the powerful Art Under Fire exhibit, I can’t help but reflect on how we’re all walking masterpieces—works of art shaped and scarred by the flames life throws our way. Every trial, every triumph, every transformation has been part of my own curation. The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been real. And now, with a new chapter on the horizon, I’m stepping forward with gratitude, hope, and just a little bit of fire of my own. 🔥🎨 #ArtUnderFire #WestValleyArts #GalleryDays #LifeIsArt #NewChapter #JimmyDavisMusicButton

Before the day ends, I want to take a moment to remember my dad on this Father’s Day. This is my second Father’s Day without him. He was brutally taken from this world—shot at close range, a victim of senseless gun violence. His life was filled with struggle. His death was tragic. But today, I try to hold space for something bigger than just pain. “I know you were a troubled man I know you never got the chance To be yourself, to be your best I hope that Heaven’s given you A second chance.” – Demi Lovato Rest easy now, Dad. Started my day bright and early with an 8:30am West Valley Arts Council staff meeting, followed by a site visit to our Creative Aging program (always so inspiring!). Then it was time to prep for our Gallery 37 interviews—over 30 incredible young artists came through between 3pm-8pm, and we spent the evening selecting an impressive group to join this summer’s program. But the day didn’t stop there! When my karaoke host called out sick, I had to dash over to Boycott Bar and jump on the mic myself. It turned into such a fun night full of joy, laughter, and of course… singing! Now it’s after 2am, I’m finally home, and my bed has never felt so good. There are few things that bring me more joy than time with my niece. I never knew I could love someone as much as I love my little Penelope. At just 22 months old, she already claps on beat, sings along to the ABC’s (and a few other bops), counts to ten, recognizes colors, and dances like she was born to do it. Her vocabulary is incredible, and her taste in music? Impeccable. “Fireball” and “Party Rock Anthem” are her jams—and yes, she knows how to ask for them. Play a song she doesn’t like and it’s a quick “no!” She knows what she likes and isn’t afraid to let you know. These little moments—singing side by side, dancing in the living room, hearing her tiny voice belt out the ABC’s—bring me back to what matters most. They remind me that love, joy, and connection aren’t found in big accomplishments… but in these quiet, silly, unforgettable moments. #PenelopeJoy #TioLife #Gunkle #ThoseDamnDavis #22MonthsOfMagic #SheKnowsWhatSheLikesButton

Tolleson was built on the backs of immigrant and agricultural families—many of whom came here as migrant workers in search of a better life. We carry their legacy forward by continuing to fight for dignity, fairness, and justice for all people. On this Trans Day of Visibility, we uplift our trans siblings—who, like so many before them, are fighting simply to be seen, heard, and respected. In Tolleson, we believe that equality is not just an idea—it’s a practice. That’s why we passed a nondiscrimination ordinance to protect our LGBTQIA+ community and became the first city in Arizona to join the Greater Phoenix Equality Chamber of Commerce. Because here in Tolleson, we are a family. A family of immigrants. A family of workers. A family that sees and celebrates each other in all our diversity. To our trans community: You are seen. You are loved. You belong here. Sí se puede. #TransDayOfVisibility #CesarChavezDay #TollesonForAll #LGBTQIA #InclusiveAZ #SiSePuede #CommunityOfImmigrantsButton

Council Meeting Recap: Compassionate Policy in Action Last night, I delivered remarks on two proposed ordinances that raise serious concerns about how we treat our most vulnerable neighbors. We all agree — urban camping shouldn’t be lining our streets. But enforcement alone is not a solution. Criminalizing homelessness, poverty, mental illness, or substance use only pushes people further into crisis. We need a comprehensive, compassionate plan rooted in housing, mental health care, and recovery support. I asked several key questions: • What data shows criminalization actually reduces homelessness? • How will this affect people with nowhere to go? • What investments are we making in housing and services? • What non-punitive alternatives were considered? Policies should reflect our values — not just move the problem elsewhere. I also raised concerns about a proposed ordinance that would make unauthorized possession of shopping carts a Class 1 misdemeanor. While the goal may be neighborhood cleanliness, this too risks disproportionately punishing unhoused individuals who rely on carts for survival. Our ordinances must do more than manage symptoms — they must address root causes. We’ll continue this vital discussion at the June 10th Council Meeting, where we’ll explore a more holistic path forward. I remain committed to building policy that uplifts, not punishes — policy that reflects the heart of Tolleson. #ViceMayorDavis #PolicyWithHeart #Tolleson #CompassionateLeadership #EndHomelessnessButton

Moments like these will always be special to me. Not long ago, I found myself in a wheelchair, my body completely failing me as my immune system attacked itself. I’ve always loved to dance—in my younger years, you’d always find me on the dance floor at a quinceañera. But during that time, I couldn’t even stand, let alone walk, and dancing felt like an impossible dream. What followed was years of trial and error—different medications, treatments, and a long journey toward wellness. Pain became a constant in my life, but I refused to give up. I researched endlessly, experimenting with different approaches to healing until I finally discovered how to control my immune response through diet. The very foods I was eating were making me sick. By eliminating or minimizing triggers like gluten, dairy, and soy, I was able to reclaim my health and my life. Now, I’m slowly reintroducing the things I love—volleyball (I’m up to two days a week now!) and, more and more, dancing. On Sunday, as the music flowed through my hands, the spirits of my ancestors took over. I had such a blast at the AGRA rodeo and Banda night at Charlie’s. Every single day that I can get up and walk is a blessing—but being able to dance again? That’s a gift.Button

The recent statement from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops regarding President Trump’s executive orders was notably silent on the LGBTQIA+ community. This only reaffirms that my spiritual journey has brought me to the right place within the Episcopal Church. Since I began attending Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in September, I’ve seen the work of Christ in action like never before. The Episcopal Church, through leaders like Mother Erika at Trinity, Bishop Budde, and the many incredible women clergy I’ve encountered, exemplifies what it means to truly walk the path of Christ. In contrast, the Catholic Church has often seemed more focused on exclusion and suppression. Christ’s table is open to all—men, women, straight, gay, cisgender, transgender, white, Black, or brown. This is the essence of the Gospel message. As Christians, we are called to stand up for the marginalized. Yet the Catholic Church has made grave errors in its support of someone I can only describe as the “Orange Antichrist.” Now, with President Trump back in office—emboldened, immune, and more dangerous than ever—we must be vigilant. I pray for all those he seeks to harm, and I stand firmly with them. As an elected official, I will use my position to protect the vulnerable and defend the dignity of all people. May God grant us the strength to resist oppression and have mercy on us all.Button

Catch flights, not feelings….. @flyfrontier really just charged me $65 for a backpack. A backpack that I’ve used as a personal item on many other airlines. Employees at Frontier are offered an incentive for “catching” bags. Congress just had hearing with them. Obviously didn’t change a thing. Just another company with predatory policies. "Jimmy Davis for Tolleson" is not just a slogan; it's a commitment that defines my way of life. As a proud third-generation resident of Tolleson and your dedicated Council Member, I've been actively working to shape a better future for our community. During my tenure on the council, I've championed the passage of antidiscrimination ordinances, enhancing the inclusivity of our city. I've spearheaded an Arts initiative, bringing beautiful artwork and a concert series to Tolleson. Additionally, my efforts extend to substance abuse and prevention, addressing our housing shortage, and tackling homelessness. My goal is to create inclusive and equitable policies that significantly improve the quality of life for all residents. Together, let's continue building a Tolleson that thrives on diversity, equality, and a shared commitment to a better tomorrow.
